What is the Photofractional™?

The Stellar M22 Photofractional™ treatment is a tailored treatment that targets the early signs of aging and provides noticeable results for pigmentation, age/sun spots, fine lines, acne scars, and overall skin appearance. This unique treatment combines the benefits of both IPL (Photofacial) and The ResurFX™. By combing these technologies, the epidermis and dermis are simultaneously treated. The IPL will reduce unwanted red or brown pigment, as well as vascularity, while the ResurFX™ stimulates the product of new collagen and elastin fibers in the dermis.

What to expect during Photofractional™ treatment:

Your technician will complete a detailed medical history questionnaire to determine if you are an appropriate candidate for treatment. The IPL portion of the treatment will be performed first. If your skin responds appropriately to the IPL treatment, your technician will then apply a topical numbing cream to the treatment areas. Once fully numbed, your skilled technician will administer the ResurFX™ treatment to the desired treatment areas. The face, neck, chest, or hands are the most common. You can expect to feel a mild sting, followed by dissipating warmth. The warmness typically subsides a few hours after treatment, however this can vary among patients.

What to expect after Photofractional™ treatment:

Immediately after the treatment, patients typically experience some redness and swelling. The redness and swelling should diminish over the course of the next 5 days. For some patients it may be shorter, and for others it may last longer. Post treatment discomfort is generally mild and subsides a few hours after the treatment. Most patients are able to resume normal daily activities, with the exception of sun exposure, working out, or hot showers, baths, or saunas. The post laser balm suggested by your technician may be applied after your treatment. Your skin may also crust and flake for 3-7 days after treatment, depending on the treatment settings. Makeup may not be applied for the first 24 hours. Our expert laser technicians advises patients to stay out of direct sunlight for two weeks following the treatment and to reapply SPF every 2 hours. We recommend your treatment be performed at least 2 week prior to any important work events or social activities.

Cool (not iced) compresses and the post laser treatment spray suggest by your laser technician may be applied immediately after treatment.

Dynamic cooling devices such as neck or hand fans may help alleviate discomfort.

Gently apply the post laser lotion suggested by your laser technician twice daily for five days.

Sunblock with SPF 30 or higher must be applied over the treated areas starting 24 hours post treatment.

No working out, hot tubs, saunas, jacuzzi, or whirlpools for 5 days post treatment.

Avoid exfoliating, shaving, waxing, or anything harsh and abrasive to the treated area for 5 days post treatment.

Avoid picking and/or rubbing the skin.

Mineral makeup that is easy to remove may be applied 5 days post treatment.

Do not use any products post procedure without consulting your laser technician. Keep the treated area clean.

Your normal skincare routine may be resumed 7 days after your Photofractional treatment.
